New powers for the police to enforce drone laws

The Government has introduced to Parliament the Air Traffic Management and Unmanned Aircraft Bill, giving greater police powers to prevent misuse, has second reading.

Police will have the power to land, inspect and seize an unmanned aircraft and new stop and search powers around airports and prisons. Those breaking the law could face on the spot fines.

Drone users will still be able to obtain permission to fly drones for purposes such as photography and surveying.
