Changes to coronavirus restrictions and new back to work guidance

The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2020 (SI 2020 No. 500) came into effect today. These regulations amend the main regulations - Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020 (2020 No. 350) - which came into force on 26 March 2020.

The amending regulations legislate for the changes announced by the Prime Minister on 11 March. In addition, the following changes are made:

*  outdoor sports courts and garden centres are added to the list of businesses which may remain open;

*  hotel or lodging accommodation can be provided for critical sector workers who need accommodation in connected with their work;

*  people may leave their place of residence one or more times daily to take exercise alone, with one or more members of their household, or with one member of another household;

*  people may leave their place of residence for the following additional purposes:

- to collect goods which have been ordered from a business which is allowed to be open for collections;

- to visit a public open space for the purposes of open-air recreation to   promote their physical or mental health or emotional wellbeing alone, with one or more members of their household, or with one member of another household;

- various activities in connection with the purchase, sale, letting or rental of a residential property;

-  to use a waste or recycling centre.
